This is the kind of mid-week energy we need right now. As with The Modern Strangers’ last single ‘Visions’, ‘Be Your Lover’ offers up high-octane pop-rock with plenty of funk, disco and indie undertones to keep our ears as keenly switched on as our bodies. We say the latter because it’s practically impossible not to move along with the bouncing energy of this track. It’s something that the band haven’t failed to take note of either, as they say, “this song has always been a highlight in our set,” and so the aim of the video was “to try and catch the energy we get whilst playing it live.” Inspired by The Strokes’ video for ‘Last Nite’, TMS create this old TV show feel and all filmed in just two takes in a studio in Brighton. Watching ‘Be Your Lover’ really has us craving a gig, which is convenient as the band has a string of UK dates lined up this October and now on sale here. - Hannah Thacker
